Mandalas
Working with circles has been a recurring theme for me since childhood – from cutting snowflakes, to creating
complex kaleidoscopic textile patterns, living in a tipi, and now using digital photography to create mandala patterns. Artisitic concentric and repeating geometric patterns have been created all around the world in all mediums, for eons of time, displayed and used in temples and native ceremonies for inspiration and meditation and all manners of well being. Circles have a way of making us feel whole. Be it in the journey around the circumference,
or the pathways that lead us to the center, one’s eyes take in the energy of a circle with a sense of completion.
To create these designs, I take dozens of photographs and fit them together on my computer, always weaving in the very special Sacred Geometry that our earth displays everywhere you look, from seedpods and windblown sand to the fractal nature of veins in leaves and the branching structures of trees. I enjoy using mirror images, This stimulates our wired in ‘bilateral symmetry’ response, and we see little spirit beings come alive in the branches.
The finished image often surprises me, as it takes on a life all its own, yielding more dimensionality than I first conceived.

Anastasiya Chepil
Born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine I began my artistic journey at the age of 11 as I started taking private lessons of drawing, paintings, composition and art history. At that point I began to realize that I could not picture myself being apart from the world of creativity and visual expression.
Being an artist allows me to express my various states of mind, moods and dreams with use of colors and textures as well as incorporation of human and nature forms. My work represents me in certain states of mind when I try to look more closely into the nature of things, beings, sounds and feelings and try to discover their hidden meanings, their stories and secrets. I feel that many of my images appear as glimpses of daydreams and thoughts that run through my head, the mysterious concepts that often come as a surprise even to me. I often come up with ideas for my work as I am observing people and nature, learning about different cultures with their views, customs and beliefs, or while I enjoy my favorite books, music, performance arts and other people’s artwork. Sharing these ideas with other people is a gratifying experience as I come across different understandings and interpretations from my audience that help me look deeper into my own vision of the world inside and outside of myself.
